Lavender and tonka in the hands of Christopher Sheldrake — which means neither note behaves the way you'd expect. The lavender opens herbal and almost fougère-like before smoke and incense pull it somewhere darker and more ambiguous, while bitter almond and coumarinic tonka add a creamy, slightly animalic sweetness underneath. Closer to Chergui's DNA than anything radically new, but richer and more nocturnal. The kind of fragrance that smells like a black dress feels — severe on the hanger, unexpectedly seductive once on.
