Serge Lutens — La Vierge de Fer
Decanting from 2015 bottle (exactly like the one on the image).
The Iron Maiden — and the lily inside her. Lutens describes it as a lily with its stamens intact, pollen undusted, heady rather than white and clean. Pear opens with a cool, slightly metallic sweetness before the lily heart takes over in full narcotic bloom, a touch cold, a touch mineral, nothing like the demure florals the name might suggest on the surface. Incense and sandalwood in the base give it depth and a quietly gothic quality. Skin chemistry matters here — some get the metallic edge and find it extraordinary; others get mostly pear. A decant is the right first move.
