Serge Lutens — L'Orpheline
Decanting from 2012 bottle (exactly like the one on the image).
The quietest Lutens — and deliberately so. Steel-cold incense shot through with aldehydes, cool spice, and a ghostly patchouli that only reveals itself hours in. Named for "the orphan girl," it smells like absence itself: a room where someone used to be, dust motes in winter light, the memory of warmth rather than warmth itself. Austere and ethereal, closer to De Profundis in spirit than anything heady or opulent. Divides opinion sharply — those who call it empty are missing it entirely; those who get it tend to reach for it on the days they need to disappear a little.
